Top 10 Sad Songs to Cry To.

We all have those days where you lie in bed with your “sad songs” playlist on blast, so why not make sure you’re getting the most out of your crying sesh by adding a few of these classics to your list. The following are some of my favourites to blast on a gloomy night.

1) Almost is Never Enough by Ariana Grande and Nathan Sykes

Such a sweet song sang by such a sweet voice. Not too extreme that you’ll contemplate getting a psychologist for your feelings but sad enough to get you feeling a little in the dumps – perfect! Haha.

2) Supermarket Flowers by Ed Sheeran
Disclaimer – before this, I had never cried to a song before. Trust Ed Sheeran to write a perfectly poetic sad song. Definitely get the tissues out.

3) Can I Be Him by James Arthur

James Arthur always has the most beautifully written songs, the more you listen to his lyrics the more it messes you up. Love this song.

4) Rise Up by Andra Day

A powerful voice with a powerful message. A good one to throw in the mix with the more depressing ones to make you feel a little more motivated and put together.

5) Waves by Dean Lewis

This has been on repeat for the past few weeks for me. Lyrics get me everytime.

6) Losin Control by Russ

A sweet love song with a sad story, definitely a good one.

7) Not Like The Movies by Katy Perry

Sometimes we forget that Katy Perry isn’t always a bubbly, happy popstar, this song shows her pain and heartbreak and it’s simply amazing.

8) Wings by Birdy

An oldy but a goody. Sweet lyrics and a strong message.

9) Skinny Love by Birdy

We can always trust Birdy to have delicate depressing songs to put us in that sad mood. This song is so gentle and pure and gets me everytime.

10) Million Years Ago by Adele

Adele’s lyrics are always so heartfelt but this song particularly stands out for me, you can really hear her pain through the music. I absolutely love this song.

What I’ve Been Up to – Birthday, Stress, Change and Learning German!

Hi everyone, sorry my posts have been a little sparadic recently, I can explain!

These last few weeks have not been the greatest, I was extremely stressed a few weeks ago resulting in me not eating, not sleeping and therefore doing worse in my assesments than I probably could’ve, causing even more stress. I’m on the path back to where I was but unexplained sadness still takes away from my mood (sad songs playlist on repeat, haha!)

My semester properly finished on Friday (although we still have one more week), this means I will have new teachers and classes for next semester. If you know me well, you’d know I hate change. I’d prefer to do the same classes with the same teachers and same people every day for the rest of my life then ever have to change. 
I only want to post things I’m proud of, and I didn’t feel I was in the state to do that for the past few weeks. 

“Good things are happening, even if they hurt.” 

Anyway, on Tuesday, it was my birthday, didn’t do anything too special but had a good day, filled with chocolate, school and phone calls from family. 
Now, it’s the weekend. Lately I’ve been so bored on the weekends, I have nothing to do, I occasionally go out with friends but more often then not, I’m at home. I have a three week school break starting next week, if I can barely survive 2 days how will I get through 3 weeks?

About 10 weeks ago I decided to pick up German on the app ‘DuoLingo’ (HIGHLY recommended!) I believe I’m currently 15% fluent, and it heals my boredom problem sometimes haha! It made me realise how much I love learning. I only really know basic sentences which will probably never come up in a conversation but we’re getting there! Haha. Ich bin eine frau und du bist ein mann, ich habe kein ahnung…!

Stress and Perfectionist-ism.


Only one word, with many meanings, but often holding a lot of impact.

I’ve been stressed recently, I have a lot of tests and assignments within such a short period, and it’s making life quite difficult lately. My life definitely isn’t hard – not at all! I am thankful to be attending a great school, being taught by incredible teachers, surrounded by great people and amazing family, I live in a nice house with my family in a beautiful area, with so many priveleges that I’m forever grateful for. But sometimes – it all gets too much.

Something I struggle with a lot is my perfectionist-ism. I care so much that I no longer care at all. I want good grades but sometimes it’s easier to not try at all, instead of trying my hardest. So that’s exactly what I do, perform badly, making myself worried but I cover it with an “I don’t care” attitude. 

I crave success, happiness, contentness and strong relationships with others. But putting in effort is hard for me. I’m not lazy, I’m just scared of failure. I’ve come to terms with it but I’m still on a very long road to improvement. 

I don’t know why I’m posting this. I just need to talk about it. Maybe it will help some of you (??) But I’m sorry for rambling.

I would also like to acknowledge and pay my respects to Manchester. Such a horrible situation, I won’t go into detail but I’ve been thinking of the victims everyday, absolutely heartbreaking!
